1974 is the beginning of My Favorite Decade in music and believe it or not, Hancock’s Head Hunters was one of the first jazz albums I ever owned. It was by accident though. I was buying a few used albums at either Al Bum’s or PDQ and when I got home, a copy of Head Hunters had been a stowaway in another album’s jacket. It got a few plays and I ended up picking it up on CD clearance priced from Columbia House just a few years later. The album or rather samples of songs from the album are myriad in hip hop. It was a happy accident that it came into my life.
